The short bob is the ideal haircut to reveal the features of the face. But how do you go about it? Fabien Giambona, hair artist at L’Oréal Professionnel, tells us all about this trendy haircut.
It very often stops at the limit of the ears, or at the limit of the jaw and many celebrities have adopted it. What is it? The famous short bob. Beyoncé, Cara Delevingne, Margot Robbie or Caroline Receveur: the stars are crazy about it. Very present on the red carpet, the short bob is just as visible among the crowds. Why is it so popular? For its ability to reveal and beautify the features of (almost) every face. Fabien Giambona, hair artist at L’Oréal Professionnel, explains how to adopt it, maintain it and give it a touch of fantasy.
Short bob: for which face shapes?
You want to adopt the short bob, but you do not know if it will enhance the shape of your face? Know now that this trendy haircut is suitable for almost all faces, “we avoid if possible for round or square faces that should rather opt for a blurred or plunging bob” according to Fabien Giambona.
Short bob: how to give it a touch of originality?
A short bob is good, but an original short bob is even better! To do this, do not hesitate to play on the texture of your hair. “The wet look, the curly effect or the nu wave effect are very good options” explains the hair specialist.
The wet look (which means “wet effect” in French) is a hair trend that is on the rise. The principle? Placing your hair back with a gel (on wet hair), in order to freeze that “wet” look. As if you just got out of the pool! We love this hairstyle for its very sophisticated look (perfect for special occasions or parties) and for its ultra-simple realization.
The curly effect is obtained by working your hair with a small curling iron and by “untangling” your curls with a hair cream.
Finally, the nu wave effect (a very natural and soft wavy) can be achieved with a straightening iron, “especially the steampod 3.0” says Fabien Giambona. To do this, simply rotate it around your hair strands, so that it is upside down or downside up. Once this step is done, all you have to do is run your fingers through your hair to relax your curls, for a successful “wavy” look.
When it comes to coloring, “it’s best to stick to natural effects with very subtle light and shadow effects, or even dare to use color blocks (brown, copper or Swedish blonde)”, says the hair colorist.
Short bob: how to maintain it?
Adopting a short bob is synonymous with regular visits to the hairdresser, for a touch-up or a rectification. “Generally speaking, you should go every two months” advises Fabien Giambona. Ready to adopt the trend?
