A layered bob is a bob haircut that is cut in layers of different lengths. When you add layers to a bob, it adds texture, movement and the appearance of more volume. I found this to be a great layered bob haircut for women with fine hair. At the same time, if you have thick hair, it can take on a lot of weight.
Important things to consider when choosing a gradient square
Hair length:
You can keep your current hair length and simply add layers. However, the longer your hair is, the longer the layers will need to be.
Benefits:
Keep the length of your hair and simply add layers for movement and texture. Layers cut from the middle of the shaft down can add more volume to fine, thin hair.
Disadvantages:
If you want your hair to look like a blunt cut of a length, it will take a long time to grow out. This could create more styling time if your layers naturally want to point inward and you want to straighten them to go down.
Face shape:
Consider talking with your stylist about face framing layers. These can help balance square and round faces. I often recommend to my clients with longer faces to add bangs to balance their shape as well.
Hairstyling :
If you have shorter layers and like to curl your hair, you’ll have more of a textured, messy look.
Hair type:
If you have fine or thin hair, make sure your stylist does not cover your hair. The finer and thinner your hair, the longer you’ll want your layers to be.
