As winter approaches, with the differences in light, the colors most prized in summer can become dull and lifeless… Bérengère, our colorist expert, helps us choose the most appropriate techniques for winter and gives us her tips for enhancing color.
WHAT TYPE OF COLOR TO CHOOSE?
Winter color rhymes with softness and warmth,” says Berengaria. And it’s the warm highlights, such as honey, copper, caramel or even gold, that will provide softness and warmth. Indeed, these highlights have the power to bring relief to the cut and warm the color. So we understand that winter is not really conducive to big contrasts and cold highlights. Although these are very trendy for blondes.
For brunettes:
In winter, brunettes need to bring in something warmer to draw light into their hair. Which is why Berengaria advises doing a “flash”, a technique that is done in place of a color and will bring a lot of depth, shine and brightness to your hair.
For blondes:
Blondes should not change according to the summer or winter. They should remain themselves, because a balayage will bring them light in all cases: “A blonde is bright and already full of reflections, there is no prohibition” according to Berengaria.
For copper / redheads:
As winter approaches, Bérengère suggests staying with a soft, squirrelly red that tugs toward caramel, paired with honey highlights thanks to a balayage: a sublime combination, according to our expert. However, she warns us that copper is a color that requires the most maintenance: “It’s a very sensitive color, which washes out very quickly. Every wash must be done with a shampoo for colored hair otherwise the red will yellow very quickly and become very bland.”
